Due to the recent COVID-19 situation, the Minnesota Board of Dentistry has mandated that dental clinics postpone any non-emergent and elective dental care. We will not be seeing patients as of 03/17/2020 and will re-open for seeing patients when the Board of Dentistry advises it is safe for our patients and staff. If you are an existing patient of Highgrove Dental Care and have an emergency, please call the office at 651-698-3828. Thank you for understanding and allowing the community to heal.

Will I need someone to drive me home after being sedated?

a woman sits in the dental chair | sedation dentist St. Paul, MNAre you looking for a sedation dentist in St. Paul? Dr. Terry O'Neill can help! We provide comfortable, stress-free dentistry for many of our patients who have avoided care due to fear of the dentist. This is particularly useful in larger cases and longer appointments. With sedation dentistry, your treatment will feel like it flies by.

Unlike nitrous oxide, a mild for of sedation which enters and leaves your system quickly, oral sedation medication has some lingering effects. The benefit is that most people achieve a deeply relaxed state and have little to no memory of their treatment. Our patients love this feature! As a result, however, you will need someone to drive you to our office and to drive you home after being sedated.

Other Recommendations for After Sedation Dentistry

It is also a good idea to have someone stay with you for the rest of the day, as you may feel a little groggy, so having someone there to supervise you adds additional safety to your recovery. You should also avoid making big decisions for the rest of the day. You can relax for the rest of the day and resume your normal activities the morning after your treatment is complete.
