Dentures are often made of acrylic and plastic to be lightweight and comfortable. These materials also make dentures durable and able to fit your mouth easily. Dentists can even personalize dentures with shading and add small imperfections for a more natural result.
There are a few necessary steps to create the best dentures for you, and Dr. O’Neil and our caring staff will be available to answer any questions you may have along the way, including insurance questions or pricing.
Your Denture Evaluation
Getting dentures starts with a comprehensive evaluation and exam by Dr. O’Neil. This includes:
- X-rays to measure bone loss and examine other issues
- Impressions of your mouth to help mold or create your dentures
- A consultation that explains the types of dentures we offer, including immediate dentures, which we place on the day of dental extractions
Making Your Dentures
Dr. O’Neil works closely with the best local laboratories to ensure that your dentures look like natural teeth, that the fit is just right, and that the shading is exactly what you want. Along the way, you’ll come in for fittings to make sure the dentures are comfortable as we move toward the final product. Our patients love our dentures!
Final Denture Fitting
After your final fit, our staff will make last minute adjustments and provide you with aftercare instructions, including how to properly care for your dentures.
Having dentures means you still have to maintain gum health and visit your dentist regularly. Always remember to bring your dentures to your appointments for minor adjustments and so Dr. O’Neil can check for wear and tear.
